Intel Oregon Providing Wireless Access at Stub Stewart
Wireless internet access will be available to all visitors to Stub Stewart State Park because of a generous grant from Intel Oregon to the Oregon Travel Information Council. Intel’s grant covered the cost of the wireless equipment and installation. In appreciation of Oregon’s stunning natural beauty Intel is also sponsoring a digital photo competition at the wireless web site called Oregon Naturally. The contest invites travelers to submit photos of natural scenes in Oregon.

The wireless internet service at Stub Stewart, responding to the increasing use of computers by travelers, will be free to the public for access to: Oregon Naturally entry; real time traffic, weather, and travel services; Oregon State government services; the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department; KGW-TV (NBC) news and weather; a limited number of sponsored web pages. Travelers visiting Stub Stewart State Park will also be able to check their e-mail or go to other sites on the internet at minimal cost. Wireless service throughout Stub Stewart State Park, including the campgrounds, was installed in mid-July. TIC is also providing wireless access at nine other Oregon state parks and highway rest stops in a pilot project in cooperation with the Oregon Department of Transportation and the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to determine whether to expand the program.
