News Release

A Message From One of Our Partners:

Greetings from Travel Oregon!
To provide visitors with reliable information about the upcoming fishing season on the Oregon Coast, Travel Oregon has developed the attached one-page update (WC 08 fact sheet.doc).  It contains the most current information available for you to give visitors.   These regulations are subject to approval and potential updates by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service. Travel Oregon will continue to provide you with information that is helpful to our visitors as it becomes available.

Also, please find attached (2) additional documents created by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife:
-The most recent press release addressing the proposed salmon season restrictions
-A map summarizing the 2008 ocean salmon sport fishing season

Please share this with your staff!
Additionally, you may want to print copies for visitors to take, so they can get more fishing information by phone or computer at their convenience.

About the Oregon Travel Information Council (TIC)...
A self-funded state agency, TIC links Oregon motorists with businesses through highway signs, rest area advertising products, TripCheck.com listings, wireless internet connections, and staffed welcome centers. The agency also has the privilege of staffing the Transportation and Tourism Task Force - a collection of public and private entities working together to synchronize tourism and transportation enhancement efforts throughout Oregon. In addition, TIC provides for the presentation of Oregon’s history and unique physical features through stewardship of the Oregon Heritage Tree and Oregon Historical Marker programs.
