Travel plazas

The Travel Plaza concept began simply, by asking visitors and industry professionals “What if we could give the traveling public a better and more welcoming experience throughout Oregon?”

Collectively, the recommendations were similar and helped us shape a vision for Oregon’s next level of visitor services, and we are using them to develop a program which will offer motorists personalized information and quality service, enticing visitors to stay longer and return for more!

While each pilot location will look a little different to reflect the local area, all will offer professional staffing with quality customer service both local and state information, road conditions and trip planning service, good coffee, and a live “flavor” of local attractions and events, and other innovative visitor services.

The end result will be a collaborative effort between state agencies, hospitality industry organizations, individual businesses, and the general public. Three of our initial pilot areas are Douglas County, Lane County, and Woodburn. Plans call for opening the doors to visitors within 2 years (Woodburn is already operational, at Woodburn Company Stores). Stay tuned for updates!
